Congratulations to the state forensics team. Here are the state results:á We had five gold medal groups including the following students:á Grace Pendergrass, Abby Gorton, Alison Ludzack, Maddie Mossutto, Aaron Ackley, Tommy Krob, Sophia Lucas, Cora Martell, Emma Hancock, Corinne Kostka, Kaitlyn Wiezorek, and Kailey Davis. We had four silver medalists: Lexi Jerome, Chris Kostka, Dena Hambrecht, and Teresa Lind.á We had two bronze medalists:á Kelsey Marshall and Justine Feller.

Inspiring!á Mr. Nevala (one of our gym teachers) approached Mr. Gillberg (our project based learning instructor) about coming up with "something" that could help Aaron participate in archery.á Mr. Gillberg brought Aaron in and Aaron collaborated with Ricky Renz and Corky Schimming to create the wonderful design you see pictured that allows Aaron to participate.á It only took these talented young men 3 days to design and complete the project.

Congratulations to the following forensics team members who performed at the subdistrict contest at Hurley last evening. Students performed in a three-round contest and received passing scores from all three judges to advance to the district contest on March 19.

Emma and Lizzy Brauer collaborated with Mrs. Oravis and Mr. Brinker to make the snow globe essay project a success. The display is in the elementary hallway and shows a scene that goes with a story that each student composed. Lizzy and Emma took photos of students posing for the storyline which students cut out and used for their project. These girls also collaborated last year with paintings on the playground that focused on the Seven Pillars of Character.

Dylan Marshall, Cory Schaffer, Jordan Miller, Clayton Netz, Andrew Messel, Ricky Renz, Mitch Popelka, Cody Wittling, Levi Anglin, Hunter Stolarzyk and Dylan Weiss are students who worked hard to paint for the recent Paralympic event in Cable. These students should be proud of the qualities they showed during this task: leadership, communication , time management and a good deal or internal control. Gerald Hanson (who organized this world class event) thanked the students for their timely effort.

Drummond students collaborated with Jeanne Riese (local artist) to paint doors for a sculpture celebrating the recent Paralympic event in Cable. Students laid out and painted the format that the athletes used to sign and decorate. Students included: Brittany Flaig, Bailey Weingarten, Adam Woltor, Ricky Renz, Mitch Popelka, Dylan Marshall, Levi Anglin, Andrew Messell, Cory Schaffer, Lizzy Brauer, Emma Brauer, Tim Niber, Tyler Gray and Alex Pierce

Personal Finance class participated in the annual, Mad City Money simulation.á Students are given a budget and various scenarios (kind of like a real-life version of the board game, LIFE).á Many area businesses provide volunteers to participate and work with students on these real-life situations.á The experience is eye-opening.á We would like to thank all of the community businesses and volunteers for your time and efforts.

Breanne Hanson and her 11th and 12th grade students at the Drummond Area School District are the winners of the $500 Kemps/Super One Cool Classroom Makeover Contest. Presenting Breanne (Left) with the check for $500 is Alan Sunie (Right) store manager at Ashland Super One Foods. ááAccording to Hanson, the award will be used by the students to paint a classroom mural, purchase some educational games, and build up the classroom library.á (The photo is a reprint from The Daily Press.)

Our K - 8 students had the experience of a lifetime when they were bussed out to the IPC world championships being held in Cable.á The students were able to meet some para-olympic athletes from around the world and watch some events.á An experience I'm sure none of them will ever forget.

Ella Skoraczwski - Champion;Skyler Ramsey - Runner Up;Breanna Kinnunen - Alternate.
Ella and Styler will represent Drummond Elementary School at the Regional Spelling Bee at CESA 12 on February 4.á Breanna will attend and compete if either Ella or Styler are unable to participate.á Congratulations to our three 2015 representatives and all the competitors at Drummond Elementary in grades 3-6.
